Principles

Listening well; sharing a common language; making the best use of everything available to us and achieving a helpful balance of challenge and support, are all essential components of successful teamwork. Progress is made when we share respectful dialogue to reach our common goals. Our principles of practice utilise dialogic space to reach the most simple of solutions.

Pocket-Sized Models

In finding answers to complex situations, the trick is not to write more words, but instead to write fewer. Within our work, relatable summaries are sometimes developed in the moment to assist meaning and longevity in our shared aims of planning. Those which work well are replicable, and henceforth known as our Pocket-Sized Models.

Below is one such example, created to guide shared approaches towards improved community connection during the COVID pandemic. At a time when lengthy documents and extended webinar guidance flooded the virtual world, this sharp, memorable definition has stood the test of time:

Our Place in the World

Another key principle of our practice is our great respect for precious harmony in our place within the natural world. Being outside; the significance of an achieved sense of purpose, and a connection created through care and attention to the needs of others, are prioritised within our work. These elements, sometimes overlooked on the roads to our recovery, bring opportunities for healing and growth that rank highly in our practice.

A further emblem of our practice is summarised here:

Step sideways, to think differently
Use everything that we have
Stay focussed on strengths-based solutions
Take notice of what works, and do more
Acknowledge and celebrate progress
Invest in time spent outside
Nourish relationship growth
